So what's the matcha hype you ask?

Matcha literally means “powdered tea.

Because matcha is made from high-quality tea, and the whole leaves are ingested, it’s a more potent source of nutrients than steeped green tea. In addition to providing small amounts of vitamins and minerals, matcha is rich in antioxidants called polyphenols. Matcha has 10 times more antioxidants than regular green tea. And its polyphenol antioxidants have been tied to protection against heart disease, cancer, as well as better blood sugar regulation, blood pressure reduction, and anti-aging. Another polyphenol in matcha called EGCG has been shown in research to boost metabolism, and slow or halt the growth of cancer cells.

Because you’re consuming whole leaves in matcha, you may get three times as much caffeine than a cup of steeped tea, but still only 1/2 the amount of brewed coffee. Matcha aficionados say that compared to the caffeine buzz from coffee, matcha creates an “alert calm” due to a natural substance it contains called l-theanine, which induces relaxation without drowsiness. 
It traditionally involves meditation
The preparation of matcha is the focus of Japanese tea ceremonies, and it has long been associated with Zen. This is likely one reason it’s becoming so popular, as meditation is becoming more and more mainstream. 

I believe that if preparing and sipping matcha becomes a way for you to slow down, and be in the moment, its benefits will extend far beyond the antioxidants it provides, because meditation, in any form, has a myriad of rewards. It’s been shown to reduce cortisol (a stress hormone known to drive appetite and increase belly fat), lower inflammation (a known trigger of premature aging and disease), curb impulsive eating, lower blood pressure, and boost self-esteem and compassion.

If you Google matcha recipes, you’ll find everything from matcha muffins, brownies and puddings, to matcha soup, stir frys, and even matcha guacamole!  I love cooking with matcha and below I even give you a few receipt to try yourself.

Matcha Iced Latte

1 or 2 cups of almond milk
1 handful of ice
1 or 2 teaspoons of Tea's Me -Raspberry Matcha
1 dab of honey ( Mix all and enjoy)

Matcha Pancakes 

1 Cup All-purpose flour (130g) 1 Teaspoon Baking powder ¼ Teaspoons Baking soda 2 Tablespoons Sugar (28g) 1 Egg, lightly beaten 1 Cup Buttermilk (240ml) 3 Tablespoons Butter (40g) melted, 2 Teaspoons Tea’s Me Vanilla Matcha 

Matcha Buttermilk Pancakes Instructions: Measure all DRY ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt then add to bowl and whisk together. Prepare all WET ingredients: egg, buttermilk and melted butter. Lightly beat the egg then Add the melted butter and buttermilk to the mixture and whisk well. Pour the WET egg mixture into the DRY flour mixture. Stir with a rubber spatula until combined. Do not OVERMIX. Last mix in your matcha tea powder. To fry the matcha buttermilk pancake, first heat up a frying pan over medium heat. Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the pan with melted butter. Using a small ladle, spoon pancake batter onto the hot pan. Cook until bottom of pancake is brown and bubbles appear on top of pancake, about 3 minutes. Flip the pancake and cook until the other side is lightly browned, another 2 minutes. Finally, plate and add your favorite syrup or toppings and enjoy

    Happy Trails

    On a weekend in April, me and a few friends decided to get out the city of Scottsdale and head north to beat the heat. Little did I know, we would go to a place so magical. This amazing picture you see is from the top of a waterfall, at a place called Fossil Springs. When my friend said lets find a place to escape the heat and get a workout, I was in. Little did he tell me, we would be hiking 12 miles threw the mountains with little water. (My Mistake) I was starting to say we need to turn around and head home. But after the 2 hour hike up and down mountains we came to a crystal clear waterfall. Need I say, we jumped right off the waterfall into this magical spring. 

    After a few hours we grabbed our gear and headed on our 2 hour hike back out. This hike is one of those experiences I will never forget, because of its beauty, scenery and the laughter of my friends

    If your like me you like to mix up the type of drink you have every once and a while. Wether its tea, a smoothies or even a latte. The one problem with multiple drink options is that they can be bad choices health wise or dollar wise. Why can't that Starbucks caramel macchiato or latte be packed with tons of antioxidants and cost less then two bucks. Well your guess is as good as mine, but good news we have a option. 

    If your a health and cost conscious person, a iced matcha latte maybe what you are looking for. With a cost of around 40 cents per serving this drink is probably the healthiest and most affordable drink on the planet. A matcha latte is packed with vitamin D, calcium and has 137 times more antioxidants then green tea. Talk about a healthy pick me up, and at 40 cents you can be the Beyoncé of matcha latte's. 

    This is all you need 

    • 1 or 2 cups of almond milk
    • 1 handful of ice 
    • 1 teaspoon of Tea's Me Company Matcha Green Tea 
    • 1 dab of honey 
    • Mix/stir and there you have the Secret Green Tea Latte

    A cool matcha treat

    On a bright sunny day by the pool, a matcha popsicle can keep you cool. There are many ways to beat the heat with summer approaching, and whats better then a raspberry matcha popsicle. This treat offers a healthy alternative to the sugar filled, artificially flavored popsicles. Guess what, its organic and all natural too. 

    Here is what you will need:

    1. Get your favorite popsicle mold
    2. Have a package of Tea's Me Raspberry Matcha tea
    3. Fresh raspberries
    4. 8 ounces of water in a cup or bowl
    5. 1 teaspoon

    Instruction:

    Open your package of Tea's Me Raspberry Matcha tea. Take your teaspoon and scoop a spoon full of raspberry matcha powder then add it to your bowl or cup of 8 ounces of water. Next mix your matcha in the water with the spoon until you have a nice green color. Then fill your popsicle mold with the raspberry matcha tea mix you just made. Last, add some fresh raspberries and place popsicle mold in the freezer for 8 hours. Finally, take your raspberry matcha popsicle out of the mold and enjoy.
